Craigmore House

Craigmore House offers 24 hour care in a 'homely environment'. Inside is just like any other family home, kitchen, dining room and living rooms, and all residents have their own large bedroom. Craigmore House has consistently exceeded the required standards in twice yearly inspections conducted by the Comission for Social Care Inspection. (CSCI).

Although the house employs staff to clean, wash and tidy, the residents are encouraged to help themselves and help each other. At weekends time is spent planning group activities and evening entertainment together. The atmosphere within the house is warm and vibrant, residents are busy getting on with their daily routines and lives. Residents have regular house meetings with their ' Activity Organiser' to plan outings and events. Each morning all the residents leave the house, travelling either independently or by minibus to their chosen destination, returning home around 4 p.m. A little later dinner is served and the house explodes into a chatter and laughter - as they all tell tales of their days events. Just like any other adult they make life choices and are consulted regarding any issues relating to their home.

We recognise potential and provide encouragement for clients who in the future can progress, with our help into 'supported living' programmes.

Craigmore House accepts adults with learning disabilities aged 19 or over. We currently work in partnership with Durham, Darlington and Stockton Borough Councils.
